November 2024: VTO's Student Art Competition!

We are proud to announce our first Student Art Competition! Students in grades K-9 are invited to create and submit an original piece of art. 

Contest Timeline: 

The competition will open on November 30th, 2024,  and close at midnight on March 22th, 2025. Judges will not consider submissions sent in after the deadline, so please consider this! 

Contest Theme & Guidelines: 

This year’s theme is winter memories. Please ensure that all pieces pertain to the theme. Students are welcome to use a variety of mediums and materials (e.g., acrylic paint, colored pencils, digital tools, etc.). 

Divisions: 

Grades K-4 are in the lower division, while grades 5-9 are in the upper division. Two winners will be selected from each division. 

Submission Guidelines: 

Please complete the full submission form with a scanned or high-resolution artwork image. Please include the student’s name (first name, last initial), grade level, and the piece’s title in the email. An artist’s statement is optional but recommended. 

Please keep in mind that submissions with incomplete information will not be eligible for grading. 

Grading Criteria: 

Pieces will be judged with grade level in mind. Specific criteria include usage of form, technique, and color. 

Prizes & Awards: 

A first-place winner and runner-up will be announced from each division. Each will receive a $50 and $25 Amazon gift card, respectively. Winning students will also have the opportunity to have their work showcased on the VTO website. 

We encourage all student artists (seasoned professionals or amateurs, like myself) to share their work! We are excited to celebrate the artistic talent in the community!
